In cooperation with MITRE, Silverado hosted the 2025 Breaking Barriers Summit to Craft Roadmap for a Transformative Defense Acquisition Ecosystem to convene senior defense officials, industry innovators, policymakers, and private capital finders to accelerate the speed and innovation needed to deliver warfighting capabilities. Through keynotes, panels, and debates the summit addressed critical challenges and proposed actionable strategies for streamlining operations and strengthening opportunities for non-traditional contractors and small businesses. Silverado presented findings from the report Economic and Environmental Effects of a Border Pollution Measure on Steel and Aluminum, prepared with generous support from Breakthrough Energy. Senators Cassidy and Whitehouse then discussed the policy landscape around leveraging U.S. advantages in clean production to revitalize our industrial base, provide high-quality jobs, and place U.S. industry at the forefront of the global energy transition. Silverado and the senators shared a mutual optimism for the chance to advance a bipartisan U.S. border pollution measure in the near term.
