Minerals in Minutes: Three Bs of Mineral Recycling

Recycling has moved to the center of critical mineral policy discussions, but it is often treated as a monolith. At Silverado Policy Accelerator, we recognize that not all recycling feedstocks are the same, so the policy solutions shouldn’t be either.

We segment recycling feedstocks into three categories: Base, Bound, and Bespoke. Together, these make up Silverado’s “Three Bs of Recycling.”

Each category presents different challenges and opportunities, and effective policy must account for these differences. A one-size-fits-all approach won’t deliver the outcomes needed to strengthen domestic and allied recycling.
