Silverado Policy Accelerator is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Research and Analysis to conduct research and analysis on economic issues at the intersection of trade, industrial, and energy security.

Job Description

Silverado Policy Accelerator is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Research and Analysis to conduct research and analysis on economic issues at the intersection of trade, industrial, and energy security. The Associate Director will be responsible for preparing materials for Silverado research projects, including case studies, reports, graphics, blog posts, presentations, and other publications on these topics based on in depth research and analysis. The Associate Director will also be responsible for developing in depth knowledge on key topic areas of interest to Silverado. The Associate Director will oversee portions of research projects. The candidate must be based in the United States and available to work business hours in EST.

The position requires strong research, writing, and analytical skills including but not limited to: experience conducting industry, trade, and economic analysis; strong writing skills and ability to summarize complex technical details for a non-technical audience; and familiarity with data analysis. Pre-existing knowledge of Silverado’s core subject areas is also required. The ideal candidate is also a self-starter with impeccable attention to detail. The position will report to the Vice President of Research and Analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis on economic and policy issues related to international trade, industry competitiveness, and supply chains
  • Produce written materials for publications, including case studies, reports, graphics, blog posts, presentations, and other publications; prepare background materials for Silverado leadership as requested
  • Monitor economic, industry, and policy developments in Silverado’s issue areas * Conduct data analysis and prepare data visualizations
  • Contribute to quality control for Silverado publications, including statistical checks, proofreading and other tasks
  • Prepare materials for presentations and briefings; present research as part of Silverado briefings and events
  • Attend conferences and events to increase knowledge on key topics in areas of interest for Silverado’s research
  • Oversee portions of projects or initiatives
  • Mentor analysts and student fellows
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A master’s degree or higher in economics, public policy, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative industry and economic analysis is required
  • A minimum of four years of experience using U.S. and international trade data is required
  • Knowledge of the Harmonized System and Harmonized Tariff Schedule is required
  • A minimum of five years of experience writing reports, case studies and/or publications in a professional setting is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues both verbally and in written form
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and ability to analyze and synthesize data
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and conduct independent research
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Two to five years of U.S. government work experience preferred
Salary Range

$110,000 to $130,000/year

Contract work is a possibility
